Extra Activities
Complete one of these activites per week. Extra credit for extra activites completed.
1. Fact File-Research Loggerhead Turtles. Create a fact file using keynote. Inlcude a title page, appearance, habitat, food, interesting facts and a bibliography.
2. Sewee Indians- Ben Blue claims to come from Seewee Indian heritage. Using Strip Designer, create a fact sheet on the Sewee Indians.
3. Shells-Tory is sorting shell specimens at the start of the book. Research the names shells- Sundials, Shark's eye's, Turkey Wings, Scotch Bonnets and Giant Heart Cockles. Using strip designer find and label photos of each shell.
4. Wanted- Make a wanted poster for Cooper. Use Phoster or any other app you would like. be sure to include description, and reward.
5. Virus- What is Parvovirus? Research it and explain how it effects dogs. Present in a Pages doc.
6. Travel Brochure- Research Charleston. Create a travel brochure with information about the city and at least 3 attractions to visit. Use Keynote or even voicethread.
7. Bones- find a picture of a human hand and label the different bones.
8. Book trailer- using iMovie or Reeldirector, create a book trailer for Virals. You may use others from your group to complete this and cancount as one extra activity for each of you.
9. Fingerprints- research the history of fingerprinting and find out about the different types of fingerprints people have. Create a short presentation on the history and types. You may use pages, voicethread, keynote, voicethread or any other appropriate app for this. Extra credit- could instead make a short movie on fingerprints- like a documentary.
10. Research the Bald eagle and include information on its use in symbolism, especially in America.
11. Draw the Claybourne Family Crest as described on page 375 (or chaper 61)
